Heavy Hits, Light Cost

In a recent Meta advertising campaign promoting a sports-related initiative, we achieved an exceptionally low cost per link click of just $0.10. This performance significantly outpaced both our internal benchmark and industry averages, highlighting the effectiveness of our audience targeting, creative development, and optimization strategy.

The primary objectives of the campaign were to drive traffic to a dedicated landing page related to a sports offering, increase awareness among active sports enthusiasts, and optimize for link clicks to maximize site visits.

The campaign generated 5,052 link clicks, reached 29,693 unique users, and delivered 66,864 impressions. With a cost per link click of just $0.10, the campaign stood out for its exceptional cost-efficiency.

This result is particularly noteworthy when compared to industry standards. According to Wordstream and other digital marketing benchmarks, the average cost per click (CPC) in the sports and recreation category on Meta platforms typically ranges from $0.50 to $1.20. Our campaign’s CPC of $0.10 represents an 80–90% reduction in cost, allowing us to stretch the budget significantly further while continuing to drive high-quality traffic to the site.

In addition to the low CPC, the campaign achieved a click-through rate (CTR) of 7.55% (5,052 clicks from 66,864 impressions), far exceeding the typical industry average of around 1.00%–1.50%.

Several factors contributed to the campaign’s success. First, our audience targeting was finely tuned to include local and regional sports fans, event attendees, and individuals interested in athletics, training, and team sports. Second, the creative strategy leveraged motion-based content and a bold, active headline that directly appealed to our target audience. Third, ongoing optimization through A/B testing and automated rules within Meta Ads Manager allowed us to continuously refine performance and maintain cost efficiency. Lastly, geo-targeting efforts focused on areas with high sports engagement, ensuring relevance and further boosting results.

This campaign serves as a textbook example of how a well-executed strategy—combining thoughtful targeting, compelling creative, and data-driven optimization—can lead to standout performance on Meta platforms. Achieving a cost per link click of just $0.10 not only surpassed industry norms but also set a new internal benchmark for efficiency in our sports marketing initiatives.
